Benitez enjoys winning start

New Internazionale head coach Rafa Benitez was a happy man after starting his reign with a 3-1 Italian Super Cup victory over Roma.

After falling behind to a John Arne Riise strike in the San Siro, the Nerazzurri roared back to earn their first piece of silverware this season thanks a goal from Goran Pandev and two from Samuel Eto'o.

Benitez told RAI: "I am very happy. The team conceded, but showed character and fought back.

"I liked the reaction and they worked hard right to the end, even if we're not as sharp right now."

Roma tactician Claudio Ranieri added: "Inter were already tough opponents last season, but now they are even harder to catch unawares, as they remain concentrated and solid throughout the match.

"On top of that, they have some real champions up front."
