Ranieri looking for giant steps from Inter

Inter Milan coach Claudio Ranieri says his team need to make giant steps if they are to get back into the Serie A title race.

The nerazzurri have paid for a disastrous start to the season in which they lost five of their first nine matches, winning just two.

Ahead of Sunday's visit of Siena, they were in 16th place and well off the league front-runners.

But having secured top spot in their Champions League group in mid-week following a 1-1 draw at Trabzonspor, Ranieri is now looking for some progress to be made in the league.

"We're still too far behind and we have to take giant steps to get back in contention," said Ranieri.

"It will be a real game, a tough one. They're a team in which everyone moves in unison."

Ranieri has ruled out playing traditional number nine strikers Diego Milito and Giampaolo Pazzini together.

"With the new system we're playing they can't (play together). They will alternate, but with another system they could do well," said Ranieri.
