Ranieri ban overturned

Internazionale coach Claudio Ranieri has had his ban for abusing referee Gianluca Rocchi at half-time of his team's match against Napoli partially overturned.

Ranieri was sent off at half-time after furiously protesting to Rocchi following a couple of poor decisions that went Napoli's way.

The coach was initially given a one-match ban but has seen that suspended on appeal with a 10,000-euro fine imposed instead.

Ranieri had been unhappy about the award of a penalty for a foul by Joel Obi which happened outside the box, as well as the sending-off of the Nigerian, who picked up a second booking for the incident.

While there could be no contesting his second yellow card, television replays showed that Obi's first had been unfair as he had won the ball cleanly with a tackle.
