De Jong, signed for City in 2009, made just 11 Premier league starts last season causing doubts over his future at Manchester City. De Jong has expressed a desire to stay at City but Corriere dello Sport claim they have entered talks over the midfielder who is valued between £6.4m and £8m.
Inter Milan are hoping that international team-mate Wesley Sneijder can persuade De Jong to move to the San Siro. Inter are keen on a swift return to Champions league football as they disappointingly finished 6th last season.
