Forlan ready to play where coach wants

New signing Diego Forlan says he will have no problems playing out of position if that is what is required of him by Inter Milan coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

Inter signed Forlan from Atletico Madrid earlier this week following the sale of Samuel Eto'o to Russians Anzhi Makhachkala last week.

But with Goran Pandev also heading out on loan to Napoli, there has been speculation in Italy about how Gasperini would fit Forlan into a side with Giampaolo Pazzini and Diego Milito.

All three are natural number nines whereas Pandev and Eto'o often filled in on the flanks.

But Forlan says he would have no problems playing out wide if that is what he is asked to do.

"I want to play where the coach tells me to. For Uruguay I don't play up front as we have (Luis) Suarez and (Edinson) Cavani so I play more as an attacking playmaker," Forlan told Inter's official TV station.

And he revealed that he has a head start when it comes to learning Italian.

"I speak a bit of Italian, I studied it at school when I was young but I've forgotten it a bit.

"I've joined a big club and knowing a bit of Italian makes everything a bit easier because it allows you to fit straight in to the atmosphere."
