Cameroon star Samuel Eto'o has signed a three-year contract with Anzhi Makhachkala and will join his new Russian side on Thursday, the club said in a statement.

"This evening, Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto'o signed a personal three-year contract with Anzhi Makhachkala," the club said in a statement issued late Wednesday.

"The striker will arrive in Moscow tomorrow and begin preparations for the 22nd round of the Premier League match in Rostov," which will be played on Saturday, the club added without disclosing terms of the deal.

Anzhi said Eto'o will wear number 99 for the club.

Eto'o's move from the glitzy Italian city side to the club from the war-torn Caucasus region of Dagestan reportedly makes him the highest paid player in world football.

For security reasons, Anzhi players live and train in Moscow and fly to Makhachkala, a city on the Caspian Sea that is often the scene of militant attacks, for home matches.

The four-time African player of the year underwent a medical on Wednesday.
