Darlington player/coach Dean Windass insists the good times far outweighed the bad during his spell at hometown club Hull. Windass lost his place in Phil Brown's side last season after his fairytale Wembley winner in the play-off final the previous May had clinched the Tigers promotion and was released earlier this month, but will look back with great pride on his time at the KC Stadium. Windass told Press Association Sport: "I've had a lot of ups and downs in football, but at Hull I had more ups than downs. "I'm Hull-born, so for the club to achieve what it did and for me to achieve what I did with the club, it changed my life really. "I have a benefit game at the KC Stadium on August 9 and that will be my time for me to stay goodbye to the fans. "I'll always be a Hull fan. I want them to continue having success and I hope Phil Brown can bring in the four or five quality players they need for them to cement their place in the Premier League."
