Windass opts for Tigers stay

Veteran Hull City striker Dean Windass has vowed to stay at the KC Stadium and fight for his place in the Tigers first team.
The 39-year-old had spoken last week of his frustration after being left out of Phil Brown's plans in the opening weeks of the season but, after talking to the City boss, is happier about the future.
Windass was quoted in the Hull Daily Mail as saying: "I can reveal that the gaffer Phil Brown and I sat down and talked about my future on Monday morning - and I'm staying at Hull City.
"Phil doesn't want me to leave and I don't want to leave. He thinks I still have a big part to play at Hull so we've shaken hands on that and we're both delighted.
"The lads are doing so well and of course I want to play a part in that. I'm going to fight for my place but, even if I'm not in the team, I'll be the first one giving the lads a gee-up.
"I'll be training just as hard as ever. Phil knows if he calls on me then I won't let him down. He couldn't promise me that I'll play more than I have been and like any manager he can only pick 11 players.
"But Phil and I have known each other a long time and we were chatting as friends more than anything. We have a fantastic relationship and I'm pleased we were able to talk things over.
"As for the rumour about me becoming player/manager at Grimsby Town, there's no truth in that. The bottom line is I want to carry on playing for at least another year after this, maybe two, so it's too early to be talking about management.
"But I've done all my coaching badges and it's certainly something that could be on the cards in the future."
