Welsh out for the season
12 Mar 2007 - 16:44:28
Hull City have confirmed that John Welsh will definitely miss the rest of the season with a serious leg injury.
X-rays have shown that the 23-year-old former Liverpool midfielder broke both his tibia and his fibula in the victory against Preston North End.
Tigers boss Phil Brown is disappointed by the news, but was expecting the injury to be worse than the final diagnosis.
"The positive news surrounding John's injury is that they can operate and his leg won't become non-weight bearing," he told the club's official website.
"Therefore there won't be as much muscle wastage and his rehabilitation can begin almost immediately.
"That's a bit of good news for John and he's been set a target for a comeback. Because he's such a positive lad, he'll be aiming for that target and he'll probably beat it."
