    Turner targeting Tigers stay

    22 Dec 2008 - 11:10:52

Hull City's central defender Michael Turner expects to sign a new contract with the Premier League club in the near future.

The 25-year-old, who has been talked of as a possible future England international, still has two-and-a-half years left on his current deal, but is keen to secure an even longer stay.

He said: "My agent's had a couple of meetings with (manager) Phil Brown and hopefully in the next few weeks something can be agreed.

"We are looking to extend it and hopefully something can be agreed pretty quickly.

"This is my first year in the Premier League, the club is going in the right direction and I want to be part of something here.

"First and foremost I have got to stay in the Premier League and go again next year.

"Like any English player I would love to play for England, but at the moment I have only played 18 Premier League games.

"If I play a few seasons to the standard I have you never know, but I am not thinking about that."
