Tigers wait on King switch
05 Aug 2008 - 12:46:25
Hull City remain hopeful that they will be able to seal the signing of Wigan Athletic striker Marlon King in the near future.
The 28-year-old only joined the Latics in January, but is set to leave the JJB Stadium after a matter of months.
However, the deal has been held up due to problems between Wigan and King, leaving City to wait to find out whether they can complete the signing of the player.
Tigers chairman Paul Duffen told the Hull Daily Mail: "As far as we're concerned, we've agreed everything that we can over Marlon King.
"It's a three-way situation in the transfer, one between us and Wigan, two between us and the player and, finally, between the player and Wigan.
"Two of those aspects have been agreed, but it's down to what happens between the player and Wigan now. The agent has put Wigan in a very difficult position.
"I'm beginning to get the impression that the move might be driven by money more than ambition.
"At this stage, it's not clear if that's down to the agent or the player."
