Hull City will be without Bryan Hughes for around two weeks after the midfielder picked up a cartilage injury at the weekend.
Hughes picked up the problem during Saturday's 2-2 draw with Blackpool in which he was stretchered off after being knocked unconscious.
"The operation will keep him out of action for seven to ten days," manager Phil Brown told the club's official website.
"Having been knocked unconscious, all of his body weight fell on his left side and damaged some cartilage."
