Hull City have virtually secured a deal which will see Manchester City right-back Danny Mills join the club on a two-month loan spell.
The 29-year-old former England international has slipped out of City boss Stuart Pearce's first team plans at Eastlands due to the emergence of Micah Richards and summer signing of Hatem Trabelsi, and Tigers chairman Adam Pearson has swooped for his services.
Pearson knows Mills from his time as Leeds United's commercial director when the player was on the books at Elland Road and is confident he will be on board before the weekend.
He told the Yorkshire Post: "We are expecting to conclude the deal in time for Danny to be available for the game with Sheffield Wednesday.
"It is a big move for us, but we are bottom of the league and have to invest in order to hopefully move away from the wrong end of the table.
"I know Danny from my time at Leeds and I know he is coming for the right reason - to play football. Providing the deal goes ahead, he will be a great addition to our squad and bring a wealth of experience."
