Tigers seal Forster deal
31 Aug 2006 - 17:05:05
Hull City have signed Ipswich Town striker Nicky Forster in a £250,000 deal after allowing Ben Burgess to move to Blackpool.
The 32-year-old has signed a two-year contact with the Tigers and is looking forward to starting a new challenge at the KC Stadium.
"I was called by a friend to say that there was a piece in the Hull Daily Mail about me," Forster told City's official website.
"So I went to ask Jim Magilton (Ipswich manager) what the situation was and he confirmed that there had been an offer from Hull City and asked me what my thoughts were.
"I said to him that I'd like the opportunity to speak to Phil Parkinson and we took it from there. Phil convinced me that this club is going forward and that it's the right move for me.
"I know Phil from our days together at Reading and have seen him develop into a top young manager. Obviously I was at Ipswich and he was with Colchester which wasn't far away so I got to see a lot of the press coverage that they were getting.
"Phil made a real name for himself at Colchester and him being here was a big factor for me."
