Hull City manager Phil Brown is hopeful of completing the signing of free agent defender Bernard Mendy.
The 26-year-old Frenchman is available on a free transfer following his decision to leave Paris St Germain at the end of his contract and Brown is keen to lure him to the KC Stadium.
The pair previously worked together when Brown was the assistant manager at Bolton Wanderers.
"Bernard's got an international history and he's looking to get back to that level," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail.
"He's 26 and he's got his ambitions to play international football again.
"That is something he can realise with us, like others have already done.
"He's had a substantial offer from Italy and a substantial offer from Germany and we can only do as much as we can to bring him here.
"But I would like to think we've matched or more than matched the other offers out there."
