Tigers hope to freshen squad up

Hull City hope to sign as many as three new players before the end of August, but will have to offload several high earners before then can do so.

The likes of Stephen Hunt, Steven Mouyokolo, Dean Marney and Bernard Mendy have all left the Tigers since the end of last season although players of the calibre of Jimmy Bullard remain on the pay-roll.

Head of football operations, Adam Pearson, told the Hull Daily Mail: "We know exactly who we'd bring in if we had the resource to do so. There could be a new addition before the start of the season, but we'd have to have generated some funds in the transfer market.

"At most we could possibly stretch to three new faces, but at the minute we're a way off being able to bring in one player, let alone three.

"We need to lower the wage bill and freshen the squad up as well. It needs some pace and some more goals in it."
