    Tigers facing striker delay

    23 Jul 2008 - 09:23:57

Hull City manager Phil Brown has admitted that there has been a hold-up in his club's efforts to sign striker Marlon King from Wigan Athletic.

The Tigers were reported to be close to completing a deal for the 28-year-old Jamaica international, but Brown has confirmed that King still has issues to settle with his current club.

He told Sky Sports News: "I spoke with Marlon with Steve Bruce's permission and the two clubs have agreed terms.

"But with Marlon there is a problem at the Wigan end, so until that is cleared we cannot get the green light to sort out the medical and stuff like that."

King only joined Wigan in January and scored just once in 15 appearances for the Latics.

He had previously enjoyed a productive two-and-a-half-year stint with Watford, scoring 37 goals in 87 outings for the Hornets.

Meanwhile, Brown is still hopeful of making several more signings ahead of the club's first-ever season in the English top-flight.

He added: "It is taking its time because sometimes the ball is not in our court.

"In the main the chairman is playing ball and every club we are talking to tends to bat the ball back, but we are waiting for the green light for three or four players."
