Hull City have dismissed rumours linking them with a move to sign Newcastle United's England midfielder Joey Barton.
The 27-year-old, best known for a series of off-field problems, has been reported to be interesting a number of top-flight clubs, with the Magpies facing up to life in the Championship next season.
However, Tigers assistant manager Brian Horton says that no approach has been made.
He told reporters: "Joey Barton is a very good footballer. I know him, I have worked with him at Manchester City.
"He has obviously had issues and that is a shame because he can be a very good footballer.
"But at this present time I don't think it's an area that really needs to be looked at."
