    Tigers confident on Campbell

    15 Jun 2009 - 14:18:23

Hull City remain confident that they will complete the signing of Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell before the new season starts in two months' time.

Earlier this month the Tigers were given permission to speak to the 21-year-old after having a bid, thought to be in the region of £6million, accepted by United.

Talks are currently on hold though as Campbell is playing in the European Under-21 Championship, with City chairman Paul Duffen saying: "We're in negotiations with Fraizer's advisors and we've got probably as far as we can for the time being.

"There may be some issues they need to finalise with his former club and that's something we can't get involved in. We need to do what we can do and wait to see what happens in the fullness of time.

"He's busy now playing in the European Under-21 Championship. We're in touch with his advisors and hopefully we can progress things shortly.

"The important thing is we get Fraizer Campbell at Hull City because we're the club he wants to play for."

Campbell enjoyed a successful 2007-08 season on loan at the KC Stadium, finding the net 15 times in 37 appearances as Phil Brown's side won promotion to the Premier League.

However, City were unable to agree a deal to sign the striker again last summer, so he moved to Tottenham on loan as part of the move that saw Dimitar Berbatov go to Old Trafford.

Sunderland, Stoke City and Fulham are also believed to be keeping tabs on Campbell.
