Tigers close to double deal
13 Jan 2009 - 12:36:14
Hull City are close to completing a double deal to sign West Ham's Luis Boa Morte and Kevin Kilbane from Wigan Athletic.
Tigers boss Phil Brown has made the signing of wide players his priority during the transfer window and has agreed a fee with the Hammers for Boa Morte.
The experienced Portuguese winger is now in talks over personal terms at the KC Stadium.
Meanwhile, Brown is hoping to persuade Wigan to part company with Kilbane.
The 31-year-old Republic of Ireland international has started just six games for the Latics so far this season.
"We have made progress, things are ongoing," revealed Brown.
"The clubs have agreed terms on Luis Boa Morte and we are trying to agree terms on Kevin Kilbane, on a personal front as well.
"They can't play any part in the Newcastle (FA Cup third round replay on Wednesday) game, but hopefully by Thursday or Friday they will bear some fruit.
"We said at the start of the season we wanted to flood the place with Premier League quality and both those players have it in abundance.
"I would like in an ideal world maybe three or four players in and three or four out - but it is not an ideal world.
"If there are some players out there you can get hold of and they will strengthen the situation, it is always good to go and get hold of them."
