Hull City boss Peter Taylor has revealed Stephen McPhee's season could be over after the striker was told he needs a major knee operation.
The 24-year-old only arrived at the KC Stadium in the summer and has managed just two appearances for the Tigers.
The former Port Vale star has struggled with a knee injury all season and an exploratory operation has revealed more extensive surgery is needed to sort the problem out.
"He's going to need an operation," Taylor explained. "It's something that probably happened to him as a boy.
"He's going to be out for three to six months, with six months looking more likely."
