Pearson rejects talk of firesale
09 Jan 2010 - 14:21:37
Hull City chairman Adam Pearson has dismissed talk of his club having received bids for a number of key players.
Pearson has confirmed that the Tigers need to trim their wage bill, but insists that the likes of Stephen Hunt, Geovanni and Kamil Zayatte will not be sold to make that happen.
He told the Hull Daily Mail: "The situation on our key players, the ones who are playing every week, is that we haven't received one call.
"The only time we would listen to an offer on a key player is if it was a ridiculous amount of money that would enable us to restructure or bring in three or four new players, but I see no sign of that being the case.
"We have certainly had no interest in the names which have been bandied about, like Geovanni and Kamil Zayatte.
"I can state now we have had no interest in them whatsoever."
Of the club's overall financial position, Pearson added: "The key for the long term for the club is to get a wage bill that is more in keeping with the turnover we have got.
"If that doesn't happen this January, then it is going to have to happen in the summer. But there is no panic over that situation."
