Pearson hails helpful Kilbane
01 Jul 2010 - 12:10:05
Hull City's head of football operations Adam Pearson has revealed that several players including Kevin Kilbane have agreed to take wage cuts in order to stay at the KC Stadium.
The former Everton and Wigan Athletic star had one year remaining on his current deal but has agreed to take a 50 per cent cut in his £26,000-a-week wages.
"All we're prepared to say is that a lot of players have helped us over the summer months," Pearson told the Hull Daily Mail.
"I take my hat off to them for that. They've looked at the best interests of the club and their future careers and getting back into the Premier League and they've helped the club.
"People like Kevin Kilbane. He has agreed to split his one-year deal into two years and half his money.
"Things like that largely go unnoticed but it's people like Kevin Kilbane that mean this club will still be in pretty good shape next season."
Meanwhile, Jimmy Bullard, Geovanni and Daniel Cousin are all believed to be close to agreeing moves elsewhere as Pearson continues to look at ways of slashing the club's outgoings.
