No fear for Dawson

Andy Dawson is confident that Hull City will be able to improve from last term after adjusting to the demands of top-flight football. The Tigers only secured their survival on the final day of the 2008/9 campaign after a dismal run of results during the second half of the season. Defender Dawson accepts that there was a lot of pressure on the players as few of them had experience of such situations. "Everything last year was an unknown and we were going to new grounds, getting ready in unfamiliar dressing rooms and all of that before a ball had been kicked in the game," he explained on the club's official website. "It'll be different this season and we'll be going to most places knowing exactly what to expect which can only benefit us really. "We'll also be facing a different type of pressure and challenge as people will expect us to improve on last year and we'll be aiming to achieve that." Difficult to predict Dawson expects Hull to continue on their upward curve over the coming 12 months even though they have been tipped to struggle again. "The gaffer has asked for improvement from us at the start of each season that he's been here and every year so far we've managed to do that," he said. "It goes without saying that it's difficult for us to predict anything because the Premier League is such a tough competition to play in every week. "But if we do improve it'll obviously mean that we'll have a better season than last year and that'll be a big achievement."
