Myhill earns Brown praise
17 Jan 2010 - 11:11:54
Hull City goalkeeper Boaz Myhill won the plaudits from both managers after his man-of-the-match display in the Tigers' goalless draw at Tottenham Hotspur.
Myhill made a string of world-class saves at White Hart Lane, as Phil Brown's City side earned a valuable point in their fight to avoid the drop.
Brown likened Myhill's performance to that of Sunderland keeper Jim Montgomery's in the 1973 FA Cup final against Leeds United, saying after the game: "There were 18 matches left and we asked the players to bring the best to the table, that is what Boaz Myhill did.
"He responded Jimmy Montgomery-style. He didn't just do it on one occasion, but two or three.
"It was a great defensive performance from us, highlighted by the contribution of the goalkeeper. The attitude was spot-on from everyone.
"We could have nicked it, but we didn't nick a point, we deserved a point."
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp added: "What can you do? The keeper has had an unbelievable day and will never play like that again in his life.
"They were miraculous saves, five or six incredible, world-class saves."
