Former England international Danny Mills has seen his loan spell at Hull City ended by injury.
The combative former Leeds United and Charlton full-back has suffered a stress fracture of the shin that is expected to keep him sidelined for up to two months.
Mills' two-month loan spell at the KC Stadium was due to expire after Saturday's clash with Stoke City but the Tigers were thought to be keen to extend his stay until the New Year.
However, following the news of his prolonged spell on the sidelines, the 29-year-old defender has returned to Manchester City.
Andy Dawson is expected to be recalled in place of Mills with Sam Ricketts switching to right-back.
