Hull midfielder Boateng puts contract talks on hold to focus on survival fight

George Boateng is happy to shelve new contract talks until he has helped Hull City ensure Premier League survival. The 34-year-old former Holland midfielder is out of contract in June but his current run in the team is his longest at the KC Stadium and manager Phil Brown last week said the former Middlesbrough captain was 'the first name on the team sheet'. But Boateng insisted he has put any doubts over his long-term future to the back of his mind as he fights against relegation. On hold: George Boateng is in no rush to open talks over a new Hull deal Boateng said: 'If I'm honest, the contract is nowhere near an issue for me. The main thing on my mind is to keep my place in the team, perform well and try and help this team to stay up.
