Aston Villa striker Marlon Harewood failed to secure a deadline day move to Hull City, according to his agent.
Harewood, 30, was reported to be in line for a loan switch to the KC Stadium with a view to a permanent transfer in January.
However, the deal failed to materialise and Harewood remains at Villa Park where he is a fringe member of Martin O'Neill's squad.
"Having taken the call from (Hull boss) Phil (Brown) I really thought the deal was going to happen, but that's football and this is what can happen on deadline day," agent Phil Sproson told the Hull Daily Mail.
"I travelled to Villa having spoken to Phil and they were happy for the deal to go ahead and it was all sorted at their end.
"I tried calling Phil back during the afternoon several times, but we heard nothing more.
"It is strange as Hull seemed interested when we spoke early in the afternoon, but Marlon will move on from this and will bounce back.
"If Hull had wanted this deal Marlon would be there now, that's 100 per cent."
