Gerrard relishing Tigers switch

Published: 01 Sep 2010 - 17:25:00

Hull's new loan signing Anthony Gerrard said he jumped at the chance of playing regular first-team football at the KC Stadium. Gerrard, a regular for Cardiff last season, has made only two Carling Cup appearances for Dave Jones' side this time around. Gerrard told Hull's official club website: "I'm only 24 and I don't just want to sit and rot on the bench. I need to be out playing football and I think the manager understood that. That's why he gave me the opportunity to come to this fantastic club. "Hopefully I'll have the chance to play regular football here and through that, I want to help Hull City progress and have a good season. "We've got the squad to do that, it's just a case of everything gelling together and kicking on. There's a good mix of young and experienced players, which is what you need and I think that bodes well for the season. "I finished training at two and got a phone call to say that Hull City had enquired about taking me on loan. I said 'no problem' because obviously I want to be playing football and hopefully I will get that chance here."
