Folan loan leaves Brown happy

Hull City manager Phil Brown has allowed Caleb Folan to join Middlesbrough on loan. The 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international striker has secured a three-month loan deal on Teesside. It is anticipated that Folan will seal a permanent £2million switch to the Riverside Stadium in January if the loan agreement is a success. Brown, who added to his attacking options by bringing former Celtic forward Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink to the KC Stadium recently, said: "We talked long and hard over the last two weeks over who we'd let go. "We always look to make decisions with a view to progress and, as a result, we've allowed Caleb to talk with Middlesbrough. "We've always been looking for someone to finish off the work of a more and more promising squad and now, more than ever, there are a lot of players on the front line competing for places. "Caleb didn't score in his four games and didn't really look like scoring either. But you're always getting pictures of every individual when they come into work, not just in a game situation." Former Chesterfield and Wigan Athletic forward Folan scored ten goals in 58 first-team appearances for the Tigers.
