Hull City have suffered an injury blow after new record signing Caleb Folan was stretchered off on his debut during Monday's 2-1 defeat at Blackpool.
Folan joined the Tigers in a £1million deal last Friday but was taken to hospital after a clash of heads with Blackpool defender Kaspars Gorkss midway through the second half at Bloomfield Road.
"The injury certainly upset the flow of our team," admitted manager Phil Brown.
"I thought Caleb was performing as well as I've seen for a debut. But it was a serious collision and he was unconscious for a number of minutes.
"He was conscious and talking as he came off, which was a good sign and he'll stay in hospital overnight."
Meanwhile, the Tigers are set to announce the signing of Nigeria international Jay-Jay Okocha on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old former Bolton Wanderers midfielder watched the defeat at Blackpool from the Bloomfield Road stands.
"I think he is the sort of player who will give us the creativity we need in midfield," added Brown.
Okocha has been playing in the Middle East for Qatar SC since leaving Bolton last summer.
