Dawson offers no excuses

Andy Dawson is refusing to blame injuries and exits for Hull City's woeful defensive record this season. The Tigers have shipped more goals in the Premier League this season than any other side, with 19 conceded in seven matches. Unsurprisingly, Phil Brown's side find themselves languishing inside the relegation places on the back of their timid efforts. The summer sales of key men such as Michael Turner and Sam Ricketts have severely hampered their cause, while Anthony Gardner has been prevented from holding down a regular role through injury. Kamil Zayatte has struggled for form so far this term and loanee Ibrahima Sonko is yet to settle following his arrival from Stoke. Experienced full-back Dawson admits a combination of those factors is partially to blame for Hull's frailties but he insists no-one at the KC Stadium is looking to make excuses. "It is part and parcel of football - the success that we have had, lads move on," he said. "Obviously Turns has gone for big money and Sam has moved on, and Anthony Gardner has got injured at a bad time, which is unfortunate for him and unfortunate for us because he was playing really well. "It is not ideal but all clubs have it and it is something you have got to live and learn from."
