Dawson making good progress
12 Nov 2008 - 15:56:32
Hull City left-back Andy Dawson has been tipped to play against Manchester City on Sunday even though an Achilles tendon injury has forced him to miss training this week.
The defender limped out of the home defeat to Bolton Wanderers with the problem, but Tigers boss Phil Brown believes rest will allow Dawson to make a speedy recovery.
Brown told the Hull Daily Mail: "Andy's picked up a bit of an Achilles tendon concern.
"He was limping, but he wants to keep his place like they all do and I could see that he was going through the pain barrier a little bit.
"I was asking if he was okay and you could see from the way he was running that he wasn't.
"Andy hasn't trained so far this week but, fingers crossed, he'll be on the training pitch on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
"An extra day gives him an extra 24 hours to recover and that helps him."
Meanwhile, veteran former Middlesbrough midfielder George Boateng has shaken off a niggle and should also feature against City, with Brown adding: "He's a combative midfield player and he picks up slight knocks from time to time, but he's trained all week."
