    City tie up Gardner transfer

    14 Aug 2008 - 14:04:40

Hull City have completed a club record £2.5million deal to turn Anthony Gardner's loan move from Tottenham Hotspur into a permanent stay.

The 27-year-old has already done enough Tigers boss Phil Brown to pursue a permanent move, with Gardner having agreed a three-year contract at the KC Stadium.

Brown confirmed: "We had an option to make the deal permanent at any stage, so I spoke to him and asked him if he would be happy to stay.

"He has been at the club for four or five weeks now and he said he would, so he now becomes our record signing."

Gardner had spent more than seven years at White Hart Lane, having started his career with Port Vale, making nearly 150 appearances in total for Spurs.

He has also won one cap for England during his career, appearing as a substitute in a 1-0 friendly defeat by Sweden in March 2004.
