Cairney: City stay never in doubt
31 Mar 2010 - 07:16:16
Hull City midfielder Tom Cairney has admitted he was never likely to leave the club after penning a new three-year deal last week.
The highly-rated 19-year-old has put in a string of impressive performances after breaking into the first team earlier in the campaign to earn the new terms.
Media reports suggested he was ready to move on but, with his future now settled, he is pleased to continue his development with the KC Stadium outfit.
Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "At the start of the season, I didn't think I'd reach the five appearance mark, especially with it being my first season in the professional game.
"I'm just so happy to sign a new deal here at Hull City and I hope to stay here for a very long time.
"There was never a doubt that I was going to stay here. There were reports and rumours in the media about things, but I was always going to stay.
"Everything is sorted now and I can just carry on with my football. I know I can't afford to settle with what has happened this year. I need to produce more performances to help the team."
