Brown tips Ricketts to stay

01 Jul 2009 - 12:35:12

Hull City boss Phil Brown is convinced that Sam Ricketts will not be leaving the KC Stadium this summer.

The 27-year-old Wales international has been linked with moves to Portsmouth and Everton but Brown is reluctant to lose a player who has been a consistent performer for the Tigers in the last three seasons.

He told the Hull Daily Mail: "It's something that's ongoing and has been for six months - and something that will be ongoing for the next six months, I dare say.

"He's got another year left on his contract so I fully expect him to be in for pre-season training.

"There's nothing with regards to any of the players making any kind of move with regards to getting away."

Former Swansea City right-back Ricketts has made 129 appearances for the Tigers and was a regular in the team last season which avoided relegation to the Championship on the final day of the campaign.
