Brown ready for Zamora talks

20 Jul 2009 - 14:37:33

Hull City have been given permission to speak to Fulham striker Bobby Zamora about a proposed £5million transfer to the KC Stadium.

Tigers boss Phil Brown is desperate to bolster his strikeforce after missing out on Michael Owen, Fraizer Campbell, Marc-Antoine Fortune and Daryl Murphy already this summer even though bids for all four players had been accepted.

"I'll hopefully be talking to Bobby either on Monday or Tuesday with a view to bringing him up here for a look around the place," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail.

"We'll sit him down and show him the area and hopefully he'll like what he sees. If that's the case we'll get a contract drafted up and we'll try to agree personal terms. I'm hopeful.

"There will be fans out there who will question how prolific Bobby is but his hold-up play is quite exceptional.

"If he can bring other players into the game around him and take us into the opposition half, then maybe it's up to someone else to put the ball in the back of the net."

However, Brown insists he is not interested in signing Manchester City striker Benjani, adding: "It's just another agent's story.

"Fans will be sitting there and be frustrated that there's been no big money signings, but it's not been for the want of trying."
