Brown looks to loan market

Manager Phil Brown has admitted that the only additions to his Hull City squad in January are likely to be loan signings.

New chairman Adam Pearson has already warned Brown that the coffers at the KC Stadium are empty following his return to the club last month.

Brown has lost £5million record signing Jimmy Bullard to another knee injury in recent weeks, but has conceded that he will not be able to go out and sign any new players on permanent deals in the new year.

Referring to Bullard's expected six-week absence, Brown told the Hull Daily Mail: "We have looked at the fixtures and it will be a long six weeks, it could become eight weeks.

"But the January window opens and there may be an opportunity to bring one or two loans in to strengthen the squad.

"I will be talking long and hard with the chairman and the owner with regards the January transfer window."
