Hull City manager Phil Brown is hopeful that star midfielder Jimmy Bullard will be back in action within a couple of months, following scans on the player's latest knee injury.
The 31-year-old only recently returned following a lengthy absence and soon hit top form to be named as the Premier League Player of the Month for November.
However, Bullard was forced off in the 3-0 defeat at Aston Villa, sparking fears of another massive setback, although Brown now expects his player back within six to eight weeks.
He told Sky Sports News: "I am sitting here like a man waiting in the emergency room for his wife to give birth.
"It's been an horrendous day for me, but I'm now very hopeful Jimmy will be back on the field of play before the transfer window closes.
"That's what I and Jimmy will be looking at. Hopefully we'll have him for three to four months of the season still.
"He's a tremendous character, the way he is he just wants the ball and to please people, He's that kind of character, there are not so many about."
