Hull City boss Phil Brown believes the point gained from Saturday's 1-1 draw with Queens Park Rangers will be vital in the tightening race for automatic promotion.

The Tigers secured a last-gasp share of the spoils courtesy of Michael Turner's equialiser at the KC Stadium to keep them on the heels of the top two in the Championship.

Hull are now fourth in the table but will return to the automatic promotion places with a victory over Barnsley on Tuesday evening.

"In the grand scheme of things, I am relieved to get a point," Brown told the club's official website.

"When you're not at your best, it's important that you take something from the game.

"If you'd said to me at the start of the season that with four games to go, a win at Barnsley on a Tuesday night would take you into the top two, I'd have taken that.

"I think any manager in the Championship would have taken that scenario."
