Brown expects Ashbee return

Hull City manager Phil Brown remains confident that injury-hit skipper Ian Ashbee to recover fully from a serious knee problem.

The 33-year-old midfielder has just returned to England from the USA, following an operation to repair damaged cruciate ligaments which is likely to keep him out of the rest of the season.

Brown told the club's official website: "It's great to have him back.

"I spoke to him on the phone before he set off back to England to tell him about the arrivals of Ibrahima Sonko and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink.

"He was just looking forward to getting back here, getting on the training ground and getting himself into that mindset of proving people wrong.

"He has done that before. Three years ago he was told that he was finished and I think he will prove people wrong again.

"I'm certainly looking forward to working with him again."
