Hull City boss Phil Brown is confident of getting the best out of Geovanni after signing the Brazilian on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old midfielder has joined the newly-promoted Premier League side on a two-year contract after being released by Manchester City after just one season.
But Brown believes the former Barcelona and Benfica star will prove to be a hit despite making just a handful of first-team appearances for the Citizens.
"We always knew there was a player in there. The first time I watched Geovanni play was when he was at Barcelona in a game against Liverpool at Anfield," he told the club's official website.
"I've only just spoken to him about that particular match which also featured the likes of Patrick Kluivert, Rivaldo and Luis Enrique.
"And to have someone from that fixture now playing for Hull City is a testament to just how far we've come as a club.
"I think it's a tremendous coup for the football club to have him on board and I'm certainly looking forward to working with a Brazilian international."
Meanwhile, the Tigers continue to be linked with a move for unsettled Middlesbrough midfielder George Boateng.
