Brown confident over Bullard
09 Feb 2009 - 11:50:59
Hull City manager Phil Brown has allayed fears that record signing Jimmy Bullard requires a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The England midfielder has made just one appearance since joining the Tigers in a club record £5million deal from Fulham last month after picking up a knee injury on his debut.
Bullard was sidelined for more than 12 months during his time with the Cottagers after dislocating his kneecap, but Brown has dismissed reports that the latest problem is linked to that lay-off.
Speaking ahead of travelling to a training camp in Dubai this week, he said: "Hopefully he'll come through a week of training unscathed and we can play him in the (FA) Cup against Sheffield United (on Saturday).
"The severity of the old injury sort of plays tricks with your mind and Jimmy would have to be 100 per cent to cross the white line."
Meanwhile, Brown expects striker Daniel Cousin to be back in action in around ten days following minor knee surgery last week.
