Hull City boss Phil Brown insists he will give Jozy Altidore every chance to win his place back in the first team.
The 19-year-old striker failed to arrive at the KC Stadium on time for Saturday's goalless draw with Portsmouth and was promptly dropped from the squad.
Altidore, who has since been disciplined by the Tigers, then went on to compond his error by issuing a public apology through his Twitter internet site.
However, Brown says the matter is now closed, telling the Hull Daily Mail: "He'll be back in contention for the weekend but it's up to him now to prove that he's deserving of a place.
"He's 19, he's at the beginning of his career but Jozy is being paid an awful lot of money to play professional football and it's part and parcel of his working life to be professional.
"The word professional to me means that you do everything right, even when people aren't looking at you.
"He's apologised to his team-mates because he let them down.
"We've got hold of a young lad with big potential but, to realise that, he has to do everything he can to maximise it."
