Brown - Basics must be right
Hull City manager Phil Brown has said his team must get back to basics if they are going to improve their results. The Tigers have started this campaign where they left off last season and have only managed a miserly four points from seven Premier League games so far. City were demolished 6-1 at Liverpool last weekend and Brown is hoping they can turn things around against Wigan on Saturday. "We have to roll our sleeves up and get back to the basics of hard work first and foremost," he said. "Hopefully the shape, discipline and football will follow. "There's some tough decisions that have to be made, there's no doubt about it, regarding team selection. "There are some tough decisions going to have to be made about the way we play. Test "Wigan will be coming to the KC Stadium with a new-found confidence and a belief that they can come here and get the points and we will have to do something about that." Brown also defended his approach to the game against Liverpool, where an in-form Fernando Torres tormented the Hull defence, and argued that Fiorentina used the same tactics when they beat the Reds in midweek. "It's been a tough week no doubt about it and it's been a long week," he added. "I got the boys in on Sunday to analyse and dissect what went on on Saturday. "Okay you can look at it and say we came up against a very good striker on his day, you could say that the fourth goal was a fluke and the towel went in for the last two. "The most important thing was that I knew the gameplan was right. I watched very closely Fiorentina do exactly the same gameplan and it paid off."
