Hull City forward Nicky Barmby has distanced himself from rumours linking him with Barnsley.

The 32-year-old has been restricted to only a handful of appearances at the KC Stadium this season leading to talk that the Tigers' Championship rivals were interested in securing his services.

However, the former England international is keen to commit his future to Hull.

"It's nice that clubs still show an interest in you," he told the Hull Mail. "I'm not so sure on the Barnsley rumour though.

"I know Andy Ritchie (Tykes manager) well. He's a great guy and a very good manager who encourages good football.

"You hear certain things about transfers, but I'm concentrating everything on trying to play for Hull City."
