Barmby pens new Tigers deal
22 May 2009 - 14:33:43
Veteran midfielder Nicky Barmby has agreed a new one-year contract with Hull City.
Barmby, 35, was out of contract at the KC Stadium in the summer but will now play on for another season on the back of a campaign in which he has made 24 appearances.
"We've sorted out another year, which I'm pleased about," said the former England international ahead of Sunday's encounter with Manchester United which will decide the club's Premier League fate.
"The manager and the chairman have been great to me. I'm obviously very pleased but it goes on the back-burner and we're just concentrating on Sunday."
Tigers boss Phil Brown added: "The decision was made by Nicky. He's done enough for me in the last couple of years to command another year and I'm delighted Nicky has decided to exercise that.
"He was almost carried off the pitch at Bolton last week. He put his all in and we need a little bit more of that on Sunday, not just from him but everybody."
