Hull City are reportedly set to be approached by Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday for the loan services of striker Nicky Barmby.
The 32-year-old former England international, who has had stints at Tottenham, Middlesbrough, Everton, Liverpool and Leeds, joined his hometown club on a free transfer from Nottingham Forest two years ago.
However, after scoring five goals in 25 games Barmby was struck down by injury problems and subsequently lost his place in the Tigers line-up.
He has since featured just three times under new boss Phil Parkinson and Owls boss Paul Sturrock is now being tipped to offer him first-team football at Hillsborough.
Meanwhile, Hull skipper Ian Ashbee is set to make his first appearance for over a year at Birmingham City on Saturday.
Ashbee has not played for the Tigers since last August after being diagnosed with a bone defect in his thigh, but has made a full recovery and should feature at St Andrew's.
