Hull City have rewarded Ian Ashbee for his consistent form this season with a new two-year contract.
Ashbee is the longest serving player at the KC Stadium having signed for the Tigers from Cambridge United in 2002 and still had 18 months remaining on his existing deal.
But Hull chairman Adam Pearson is keen to tie the 30-year-old down to a new long-term contract.
"There's a deal on the table now for Ash and that will take him through another year up to 2009 - that will give him two years left rather than one," he confirmed.
"We feel he has fully deserved it after the impact he has had on the squad and everything he has done for us since coming back from injury."
