Ashbee eyeing Tigers return

Hull City's club captain Ian Ashbee retains some hope of being able to return to action before the end of the season, as he continues his recovery from long-term injury.

The 33-year-old midfielder is back in training with the Tigers squad, having not featured at all this term due to a knee problem which has required two rounds of surgery.

He told the Hull Daily Mail: "We take it week by week, but of course I want to be able play and push for a place. I've got hopes of playing again this season.

"I'm sure my hopes might be different to the physio's, but we'll have to come to a compromise in between somewhere.

"It doesn't get any easier watching from the side and if I can help even one per cent more in any way it'll be worth it

"No footballer enjoys being injured, but I can't do anything about it. I just have to look to do things right and get on with it."
